It has come to our attention that there has developed a grey market for Thecus Products in Canada. At this time there is only one Authorized Canadian Distributor, Compudata Systems. Compudata Systems is also the warranty/repair depot for Thecus in Canada. As such, it is at their discretion to process Warranty claims for grey market products.

How do you tell if your Thecus Unit is through Authorized Distribution?

The first step is to check if your Retailer is an Authorized Canadian Reseller. If a reseller is not listed they do not have access to Authorized Canadian Distribution and the product will be classed as grey market.

The second step is to check to see if it has a Canadian Serial Number. (Please see picture below for example.) Before all Thecus units ship they have the Serial Number affixed in two places. The first location will be on the outside of the Packaging. The second location varies based on product. N5200 and N4100 models have the Serial Number affixed on the bottom of the unit. N2100, N2050, and N1050 models have the Serial Number affixed to the inside of the unit. To verify your unit has this Serial Number, open the chassis and turn over the lid. The Serial Number should be easily visible. If you do not have a Canadian Serial Number, you definitely have a grey market product.

Your Thecus product will not have Canadian Warranty.

What are your options if you have a Grey Market Product without warranty?

On a per incidence basis, Compudata Systems will work with you to resolve your issue. This will incur a $140 CDN Service Charge. Additional costs will accrue, if replacement parts are required for the repair. If your unit falls within a one year period from proof of purchase, you may be eligible for a discount on replacement parts. For support email support@thecus.ca. Register your Grey market Thecus Product for Canadian Warranty Services. A one time fee will secure your Canadian Warranty.
